My name is Dawn Banks and I’m on a mission
Secondary School didn’t work for me because the system favoured academic ability, which wasn’t my strength. I was disengaged and branded a troublemaker. I’m all about people, places and experiences but there was no recognition that these things had value in the real world. It took until the age of 30 to turn these passions into a business. I’m now a successful garden designer and I love my life.
My children Berri (11) and Pablo (9) are now reaching the age where it all went wrong for me and the education system still hasn’t adapted.
I've created Dream Explorers to create a better life for my children and others around the world. I want them to believe in themselves and spark curiosity about the world around them.
My name is Tom Harris and I am also on A mission
I am Tom and I am a teacher. I teach topics including leadership, teamwork, expedition skills and navigation to a range of different learners. I like to take lessons outside where I can incorporate life lessons full of value and purpose, but this is hard due to the educational system.
I am frustrated with the system, so why not create a new one? One with lessons that are taught in natural conditions, without restraints, that have the freedom to explore.
I want to plant seeds so that powerful, meaningful, inspirational, brilliant ideas are born out of people who were given the opportunity to have free range lessons at the right time in their life. I want young people to reflect on what is important to them and what makes them happy, and then understand how to go places with this knowledge.
